BRE has recently hosted their quarterly update meeting about Version 7 of the BREEAM schemes, revealing some details of the transition plan.
With regard to the In-Use scheme that applies to existing real estate assets:
As announced in this blog article published a few months ago, it is confirmed that during the first six months from the official launch both versions 6 and 7 will be available to customers for registering new projects.
After the initial six months, registered v6 assessments will have further 12 months from registration to submit the assets for certifications.
No date has been confirmed for the launch date, which will take place no earlier than 2026 anyway.
As the scheme development will not occur until 2026, BRE does not expect v6 registrations to close before late 2026 / early 2027.
There will be a consultation phase where assessors and clients will be able to review BRE’s proposed changes and provide feedback.
