

2023 was indeed a very busy year for our BREEAM In-Use certification team, as E.S.G. Solutions has been travelling across Europe to undertake several business meetings, site surveys, pre-assessments, gap analyses and client workshops for some very prestigious assets located in the UK, Belgium and Italy.
Here’s a selection of some happy moments spent together with the team and our clients. Enjoy!
Certified on 19th May 2023, this 7,700 m² asset is located in the very heart of the Belgian capital, right in front of the Cathédrale des Saints Michel et Gudule.
Featuring 7 floors above ground and 2 below ground, the building was let to various corporate tenants during our site visit. We also took the panoramic photograph below: the views from the roof top were amazing that day!
Certified on 27th November 2023, this 3,600 m² logistics asset is located in an industrial estate approximately 10km east of Central London.
E.S.G. Solutions also provided advisory services and technical support during the refurbishment works, which included sub-metering installation and monitoring. The site was covered in snow during one of our site inspections!
Certified on 15th January 2024, this 32,000 m² 5-star hotel is located in Sicily and is managed by Mangia’s Resorts, one of the leading asset managers in the hospitality industry.
The project was undertaken with the ultimate objective to drive virtuous sustainability initiatives within the organisation and led to a number of targeted improvements such as the installation of bird boxes to enhance the site biodiversity, the introduction of CO₂ sensors to monitor the indoor air quality, drinkable access points for staff located at each floor of the 7-level asset, state-of-the-art water meters with pulsed outputs to monitor live consumption and new green policies being implemented by the general manager and the asset management company across the resort.
Certified on 18th September 2023, this 10,500 m² asset was built in the 1970s and refurbished in the 2010s to LEED Platinum standard.
It’s a multi-tenanted office building which features 9 levels above ground and 2 basement floors, with solar PV modules installed on the roof.
Certified on 18th January 2024, this 5,300 m² asset is one of the iconic buildings of the new Porta Nuova district in Milan. Designed in the 2000s to the highest energy efficiency and LEED standards, today is entirely let to IBM.
It features a modern auditorium at ground floor, storage and technical rooms in the basement and office/entertainment areas over mezzanine, first, second and third floors. It’s located by BAM: Biblioteca degli Alberi Milano (“Milan’s Trees Library”), as per the photograph below taken from the Unicredit Tower nearby.
Certified on 18th September 2023, this 17,500 m² asset is the headquarters of Microsoft Italy. Built in 2016, the beautiful modern glass building consists of 6 floors above ground and 2 below ground.
With its sharp angles and innovative use of space received more than 200,000 visitors, 10,000 professionals, 4,000 students and 1,000 school principals in its first year alone – highlighting Microsoft’s commitment to open innovation and collaboration with the local community and surrounding environment.
Certified on 18th January 2024, this 24,300 m² asset features 212 kWp of solar PV installed on the roof, south-west and north-east facades and was constructed in 2020 to LEED Gold standards.
The office building is located in close proximity to Milano Garibaldi station, a public transport hub with abundance of trains, buses, metros, tram and various amenities, restaurants and bars in Corso Como nearby.
It consists of 21 office floors above ground let to Accenture and three levels of basements providing car parking facilities but also provision for alternative modes of transport, such as cycling storage spaces, changing facilities electric car recharging stations, car sharing allowances, etc.
